🌏 Study Abroad / Jobs
- Use GPA × 25 formula for percentage equivalent
- Write: "3.6 CGPA = 90% (PU, 4.0 scale)"
- WES evaluation recommended for foreign universities
- Lok Sewa accepts GPA × 25 conversion
- Top scholarships (Fulbright, Erasmus+): need % + official transcript
- CGPA 3.0+ preferred for competitive opportunities
Example: If you take 5 subjects — Mathematics (3 CH, A = 4.0), Physics (3 CH, B+ = 3.3), Chemistry (3 CH, A- = 3.7), English (3 CH, B = 3.0), Nepali (4 CH, B+ = 3.3):
Total Honor Points = (3×4.0) + (3×3.3) + (3×3.7) + (3×3.0) + (4×3.3) = 12 + 9.9 + 11.1 + 9 + 13.2 = 55.2
Total CH = 16 → SGPA = 55.2 ÷ 16 = 3.45 (Distinction level)
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the weighted average of all SGPA values across all semesters completed, weighted by the credit hours of each semester. CGPA = Σ(SGPA × Semester Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours. Your CGPA appears on your final degree certificate and is what employers and foreign universities look at.
