Divide your percentage by 25. GPA = Percentage ÷ 25. Example: 80% ÷ 25 = 3.2 GPA. This formula is accepted by TU, NEB, PU, and PBU. For KU: GPA = (Percentage ÷ 100) × 4 — gives the same result at most percentages.
80% ÷ 25 = 3.2 GPA in TU/NEB scale. A− grade, First Division. In TU semester system specifically, 80% marks = A− grade (3.7 GP on TU's letter scale). Full guide: 3.2 GPA to Percentage Nepal
90% ÷ 25 = 3.6 GPA in TU/NEB. A+ grade, Distinction. Full guide: 3.6 GPA to Percentage Nepal
TU Distinction varies by faculty and system:
- TU Annual system (old programs): Distinction = 75%+ (3.0 GPA) in most Science/Engineering faculties. Some Humanities faculties set it differently.
- TU Semester system (BCA, BBS, BIM, BE): Distinction = CGPA 3.60+ (equivalent to 90%+).
- NEB (Class 12): Distinction = A+ grade, 90%+ (3.6 GPA).
- PU / KU: Distinction = 3.60+ CGPA (90%+).
Always verify with your specific faculty office — the threshold is not uniform across all TU programs.
Almost identical numerically (both give 3.2 at 80%), but the grade thresholds differ: KU minimum pass is 45% (C grade, 2.0 GP), while TU semester minimum is 40% (D grade, 1.7 GP). The US/WES scale is very different — 80% Nepal = roughly 2.7 GPA on the US scale. See the comparison chart above.
